Digital Lumens today announced that Quality Bicycle Products (QBP), the largest and most widely known bicycle parts distributor to the cycling industry, outfitted its new Lancaster, PA warehouse and distribution center with Digital Lumens' Intelligent LED Lighting System.
The 122,000-square foot facility is expected to save 85% on lighting energy costs annually over fluorescent alternatives and leverage the IoT-based solution for control and operational flexibility. The Digital Lumens system, comprised of smart, LED-based high bay fixtures — all with integrated sensors and a wireless network — provided a solution that seamlessly integrates with numerous energy efficient systems and sustainable building techniques.
"From the start of the new building construction, our goal was to create an all-around better building, keeping our employees and sustainability goals in mind. We knew we wanted to invest in quality systems, rather than spend time and money to improve them later on," said Dave Smith, Site Manager at QBP East. "A high priority for us was to consume less energy from day one, using solutions that are natively efficient in both design and function. The Digital Lumens Intelligent LED Lighting System coupled with LightRules software fit that profile perfectly.”
After working with Digital Lumens' representative, Illuminations, Inc., and electrical contractor, Lancaster Electric, Inc.,QBP chose the Digital Lumens system for its energy efficiency, fully integrated occupancy and daylight sensing, and LightRules® lighting and energy management software. In addition to energy savings, the Digital Lumens system allowed QBP to reduce fixture count by 30%, cut half of the circuit installation labor costs, and eliminate lighting maintenance from the budget.
"It is an honor working with a company like QBP, whose business goals and values align so closely with ours," said Jason Rakip, National Sales Director at Digital Lumens. "Their commitment to sustainable design, including a number of energy-efficient systems in their new East Coast facility, is reflected in their choice of intelligent LED lighting, which will help maximize energy savings across the building life."
