GB Energie LED, a minority, women-owned business committed to sourcing sustainable energy solutions, today announced that M.C. Dean Inc. has awarded the company a high profile lighting project in the Baltimore area.
Along with its partner, Revolution Lighting Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:RVLT), a global provider of advanced LED lighting solutions, GB Energie will supply high-quality, energy efficient LED lighting from RVLT for the new Johns Hopkins University Laboratory building.
Currently under construction, the new laboratory is a 170,000-square-foot facility designed to become an innovation hub for growing life science companies as part of Johns Hopkins University's effort to commercialize its research. Construction on the building located at 1812 Ashland Avenue began in November 2014 and is expected to be completed by July 2016.
The initial phase of the three-year, multimillion-dollar lighting project is expected to begin in the next few weeks.
“We are excited to begin this project and bring Revolution Lighting’s innovative LED lighting products to market in the Baltimore Area,” said Dr. Gloria B. Herndon, President and CEO of GB Energie LED. “The Johns Hopkins lab building further advances our mission to be part of sustainable energy solutions that not only contribute to the health of our environment, but also reduce energy costs and deliver a rapid return on investment. I congratulate the project developer, Forest City-New East Baltimore Partnership, on its decision to upgrade to LED lighting.”
“Revolution Lighting is pleased to partner with GB Energie LED and provide our high quality, energy efficient LED lighting solutions for this Baltimore area facility,” said Charles Schafer, President and Chief Financial Officer of Revolution Lighting Technologies. “This project illustrates how municipalities and universities are increasingly integrating energy efficiency measures such as LED lighting into new construction in order to reduce emissions, energy and maintenance costs, while also providing an improved working and living environment. We see this as a long-term trend and expect continued growth in the municipal and higher education markets.”
