The NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center will host an Astronomy Night & Hubble Space Telescope 25 Anniversary celebration from 7 – 9 p.m., Friday, April 24.
“The NASA Hubble Space Telescope plays a major role in every realm of astronomy, from our solar system to the edge of the universe. It has opened our eyes to the space around us with more than one million observations since being launched April 24,1990,” said Kim Check, the Visitor Center manager.
The evening will feature astronomy presentations, the Hubble 25th Anniversary video series, and children’s activities.
In addition, the Delmarva Space Sciences Foundation will be on-site to provide expertise and telescope views of the night sky.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will occur regardless of cloud cover. Telescope viewing is subject to cancelation due to inclement weather.
The NASA Visitor Center, located on Va. Rt. 175 about six miles from U.S. Route 13 and five miles from Chincoteague, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
