Coriant, a global supplier of SDN-enabled end-to-end transport networking solutions, today announced that SoftBank BB Corp., Japan’s leading telecommunications/ICT service and solution provider, has deployed the Coriant® 7100 Nano™ Packet Optical Transport Platform in its metro high-speed optical network.
The highly compact, multi-degree optical switching/ROADM solution enables SoftBank BB Corp. to significantly reduce capital and operating expenses while providing seamless, pay-as-you-grow scalability and resilient 10G/100G backbone connectivity.
“Highly flexible and scalable packet optical transport networks are key to meeting the changing bandwidth needs and dynamic application requirements of our mobile services, as well as our broadband services for corporate and consumer customers,” said Keiichi Makizono, SVP, SoftBank BB Corp. “The Coriant solution not only delivers unmatched space and power savings, but also enables SoftBank BB Corp. to meet current and future capacity requirements in a single, integrated platform.”
“With a rich suite of service-enabling features and scalability to 100G in an extremely small footprint, the industry-leading 7100 Nano was the ideal solution for SoftBank’s needs,” said Tomohiro Furuya, Managing Director, Coriant Japan.
The 7100 Nano is a high-performance packet optical transport solution for cost-efficient and scalable deployment in metro networks. Combining multi-functional and high density transponder modules, integrated ROADM modules, and packet optical switching capabilities, the 7100 Nano delivers industry-leading efficiency and space-savings for metro-based ROADM, 10G, 100G, and packet grooming applications in a compact 5RU footprint. A wide range of configuration options and automated restoration features based on Wavelength Selective Switching (WSS), including optical switching, multi-ring, mesh and multi-layer restoration, provides the resilient foundation for mission-critical customer traffic.
“We continue to advance our leadership in packet optical transport networking with investment in features and technologies designed to meet the most pressing challenges our customers face,” said Brian Nagle, Director of Product Line Management, Coriant. “As bandwidth demands scale and traffic management becomes increasingly complex, the 7100 Nano gives our customers what they need most – operational efficiency, service flexibility, and future-proof scalability at the lowest cost of ownership.”
