Convergence India 2015 Conference Features UTStarcom’s Broadband and Optical Network Infrastructure Technologies

UTStarcom, a global telecommunications infrastructure provider, participated in the 23rd Convergence India Exhibition and Conference in New Delhi, India in 21-23 January 2015.

The Company showcased its advanced broadband and optical network infrastructure technologies offering to the Indian market and mapped out its operating strategy to serve the rapidly growing demand in the market for bandwidth from cloud-based services, mobile, streaming, and other applications.

This year's exhibition, "Connecting India", was inaugurated by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the Honourable Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, in the presence of more than 1,200 conference delegates.

UTStarcom announced its plans to support government initiatives including Smart Cities, NOFN, and Wi-Fi deployments, and the aggressive strategy on its Carrier Wi-Fi solution.

During the conference, Mr. William Wong, UTStarcom's Chief Executive Officer, stated, "The Telecommunications sector in India is experiencing a transition unlike anything we have seen before. UTStarcom's delegation was represented by Mr. William Wong, UTStarcom's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Shalin Y. Shah, Co-General Manager of India Operation, Mr. Rahul Pandey, Director of India Sales & Marketing, Mr. Steven Chen, Vice President of Product Development, and Mr. Aman Sehgal, Head of Wi-Fi Product Planning and Head of Sales and Business Development of North America.

UTStarcom's exhibit showcased its latest developments in its core product lines including SDN/NFV, Packet Optical Transport, and Carrier Wi-Fi. The Company expects these to be the most beneficial products for the Indian market and various related government initiatives.

Leading the Discussion on Cloud-Based Infrastructure

As part of its presence at the conference, UTStarcom also participated in the panel discussion titled "Cloud solutions for businesses: The new paradigm to create a secure and smarter workplace." During the panel, Mr. Steven Chen elaborated on UTStarcom's approach in the area of SDN/NFV technology and its applications for the rapidly developing Indian market.

Emphasizing True Carrier-Class Wi-Fi Approach

UTStarcom also participated in the panel discussion titled "Internet for all - driving a new wave of e-commerce, media, education for connected India." Mr. Aman Sehgal emphasized the importance of true carrier Wi-Fi approach for the efficient bridging of the digital divide and implementation of various government initiatives.

Mr. Shalin Y. Shah, Co-General Manager of India Operation stated, "With the tremendous growth in mobile traffic, smartphone consumer base, and strong internet penetration, Wi-Fi is going to play a central role in the future development of India's telecom industry. We believe that we have the product breadth and capability with our Carrier Wi-Fi product line to meet this increased demand."
