Visualant, Inc., a leading provider of disruptive light-based technologies, announced today that Intellectual Ventures has filed three additional patents focused upon both unique applications of the Visualant ChromaID™ technology and advancements to the technology itself.
Visualant and Intellectual Ventures (IV) entered into a strategic relationship in November of 2013. Pursuant to that agreement Visualant provided ChromaID development kits to Intellectual Ventures for distribution to twenty inventors and inventor groups in the global IV Invention Network. Those inventors returned a significant number of invention disclosures from which IV will file a number of patents based upon the Visualant ChromaID technology.
The Company recently announced the initial filings by IV in the area of medical diagnostics, food safety and gemstone grading. The latest filings by IV involve the use of ChromaID technology as a microscope and include refinements in the technology. These enhancements can reduce the size of the scan head and lower its cost, both of which expand the utility of the ChromaID technology and scope of its possible applications.
Ron Erickson, Visualant Founder and CEO, stated, “Once again, the Intellectual Ventures team had provided Visualant with an expansive vision for our ChromaID technology. These newly filed patents continue to extend the reach of our technology.”
Eric Bell, Senior Director, Investment Strategy at the Invention Development Fund of Intellectual Ventures, said, “These latest filings continue to demonstrate the strength of the IV inventor network and reinforces our belief that the foundational Visualant ChromaID intellectual property has far reaching applications across several industries.”
