New ProScope Micro Mobile Microscope for Science Education from Vernier

Vernier Software & Technology is now offering its first microscope for use with mobile devices in science education with the ProScope Micro Mobile Microscope. Appropriate for use across various science disciplines and designed for all grade levels, the ProScope Micro Mobile is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, iPad mini, and Galaxy S4 devices.

"Mobile technology is changing the way that educators teach and the way that students learn. The ProScope Micro Mobile brings the power of microscopy to mobile devices, and it transforms mobile devices into portable, digital microscopes that are easy to use for students from elementary school to graduate school," said David Vernier, co-founder of Vernier and a former physics teacher. "When connected to a mobile device, the microscope allows students to investigate a wide range of materials – from rocks to cells to water samples – at up to 80x magnification."

After the ProScope Micro Mobile is attached to a mobile device, it uses the device's camera function to display objects on the device's screen at 20x to 80x magnification via the Edmund pro-level glass optics lens. It features adjustable LEDs to reduce surface reflection, an onboard lithium-ion battery for up to five hours of use, a USB port to fully recharge the device in less than two hours, and a built-in desktop stand for hands-free use if desired. It is made with impact resistant nylon and ABS to withstand operation in the classroom or out in the field.
