“We’ve always been asked by marine biologists and corrosion engineers if our ProScopes could work underwater, but at the time our ProScopes had USB cables or needed some close proximity to a laptop,” said Peter White, director of sales for Bodelin Technologies. “Our ProScope Micro Mobile now works in any environment that mobile devices work and with the innovative design of the UK-manufactured Aquapac, those environments include underwater.”
The ProScope revolutionized microscopy by allowing examination in the field rather than having to bring samples to the lab. For marine biology this is even more important as you won't be removing a plant or animal from their natural environment to examine them under magnification. For corrosion testing, an engineer can closely examine a pipeline, bridge structure or vessel without having to remove a sample to send to the surface.
The ProScope Micro Mobile kits retail for $149 and will attach to iPhone, iPad, Samsung S4 and iPad mini. Features include 20X to 80X magnification, adjustable LED intensity, 5-hour continuous-use rechargeable battery, built-in three-point stand and tripod mount.
