Laser 2014 will offer a session on Surgical/Interstitial Laser Therapy (ILT) on Friday, April 4, as part of the 34th Annual Conference of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, Inc. (ASLMS), April 2-6, 2014, Phoenix, AZ.
This session focuses on non-destructive imaging in dentistry and highlights new devices and techniques for minimally invasive management for the diagnosis of cancer and disorders of hard and soft tissues, treatment of lumbar disc disease, aesthetic body contouring and posterior capsulotomy of the eye.
According to Carson Wong, M.D., F.R.C.S.C., F.A.C.S., and Director of this session, "This year's program has a greater emphasis on laser applications for dentistry and oral maxillofacial surgery compared to prior conferences." Dr. Wong is Medical Director, Center for Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at University Hospitals Parma Medical Center, Parma, Ohio; Chief, Division of Urology at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center, Beachwood, Ohio; and Director, Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at SouthWest Urology, LLC, Cleveland, Ohio. He serves on the ASLMS Constitution and Bylaws Committee.
"Hot Topics" include wireless, portable low-cost screening for oral cancer, q-band EPR dosimetry for tooth enamel biopsy samples, and the effect of CO2 laser and fluoride dentifrice on demineralization around orthodontic brackets, to name a few.
"This session builds upon our knowledge of tissue optics and light-tissue interactions and expands our repertoire of available tools to diagnose and treat disease more effectively and less-invasively," noted Raymond J. Lanzafame, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.S., Co-Director. Dr. Lanzafame is the Director for Continuing Education, serves on the Board of Directors, and is a Past President of ASLMS. He is also the owner of Raymond J. Lanzafame, M.D., PLLC in Rochester, New York.
Any scientist, student, engineer, medical practitioner, and personnel involved in other aspects of health care, and/or industries, as well as all with an interest in these topical areas are invited to attend.
Conference registration is $790 for members or applicants and $1,075 for non-members. Students and residents are admitted free of charge.
