ECOC 2013: Oplink to Debut 100G Metro DWDM CFP Transceiver

Oplink Communications, Inc., a leading provider of optical communications components, intelligent modules and subsystem solutions, today announced that it will introduce its 100G Metro DWDM CFP transceiver at the upcoming European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), to be held September 23 to 25 in London.

Oplink's 100G metro DWDM CFP transceiver offers an industry-leading cost optimized solution for metro 100G DWDM transport. First in the industry, these 100G transceivers are developed with mature, mass-produced optical components combined with state-of-the-art MLSE (Maximum Likelihood Sequence Estimation) digital signal processing technology.

"Oplink's advanced 100G Metro DWDM CFP uses a direct detection receiver with digital signal processing technology supported by our partner MultiPhy. This technology enables effective compensation for fiber chromatic dispersion and ISI signal distortions, and provides an attractive cost performance balance, ideal for high volume metro DWDM transport, such as in inter-data center connection, enterprise, and broadband mobile back-haul networking applications," commented Dr. Rang-Chen Yu, Vice President of Business Development of Oplink.

"We are very pleased that Oplink has chosen MultiPhy as its partner to develop the metro DWDM transceiver module solution", said Neal Neslusan, VP of Marketing and Sales at MultiPhy. "We are confident that this lower cost solution will greatly accelerate 100G deployments to meet growing bandwidth demand."

The 100G Metro DWDM CFP transceiver will be on display together with Oplink's extended reach 10x10-40km CFP and long reach 100G LR4 CFP2. In addition, Oplink will have on display highlighted products from its broad portfolio, including its latest multicast switch, WSS, amplifiers, passive devices and advanced transceiver solutions.
