Mindspeed Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for broadcast infrastructure, today announced the availability of a laser driver, limiting amplifier and receiver optical sub-assemblies (ROSAs) that enable multi-kilometer transmission of broadcast video signals over single mode optical fiber.
The M07860 laser driver, M07840 limiting amplifier, M07830 PIN ROSA and M07835 APD ROSA are SMPTE 297-2006 compliant, supporting serial digital interface (SDI) pathological patterns at data rates from 50Mbps to 3Gbps over single mode fiber.
"An increasing number of broadcasters are opting for fiber based infrastructure for upgrades and new studio builds," said Gary Shah, vice president of product marketing for the high-performance analog (HPA) business unit at Mindspeed. "Our optical solutions will enable the transmission of error free broadcast video signals over extended distances."
Mindspeed will be showcasing its portfolio of video transport solutions at IBC 2013 in booth 8.B38e, from September 13-17, 2013 at the RAI Center in Amsterdam.
Technical Details
The M07860 incorporates Mindspeed®'s proprietary Eye-MinderTM dual digital closed loop technology that compensates real time for laser aging and temperature effects, thereby eliminating the need for lookup tables and saving manufacturing test costs. The M07840 limiting amplifier offers very low input sensitivity, on chip DACs and the flexibility of 2-wire digital control for programmable loss of signal and output swing settings. The M07830 and M07835 ROSAs offer best in class sensitivity of better than -22dBm and -31dBm respectively. The M07830 also offers excellent overload of greater than +6dBm.
Availability
The devices are in production now and are packaged as follows: M07860 in 5x5 millimeter (mm) quad-flat no-leads (QFN), M07840 in 3x3 mm QFN and the M07830 and M07835 ROSAs in industry standard LC connector. Module reference designs are also available now.
