FUJIFILM Corporation (President and CEO: Shigehiro Nakajima) is delighted to announce that the X100S has been crowned "European Advanced Compact Camera 2013-2014" by judges at the esteemed European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) awards.
EISA is the unique association of more than 50 special interest magazines from 20 European countries. In June each year, the editors-in-chief from all EISA member magazines meet to decide which of the products analysed in their publications during the past year deserve a coveted EISA Award. The six categories under consideration are: Audio, Video, Home Theatre, Photography, In-Car Electronics and Mobile Devices.
Fujifilm's X series cameras have consistently triumphed at the EISA awards over the last 3 years, the "FUJIFILM X100"* in 2011, and the "FUJIFILM X-Pro1"** last year.
EISA judges were particularly impressed with the X100S's outstanding image quality. Commenting on the award, the EISA jury said; "Continuing the successful design and concept of the X100, the Fujifilm X100S advances this lightweight and compact fixed-lens series with a 16-million-pixel APS-C size X-Trans CMOS II sensor. It also features faster in-camera processing and a more advanced hybrid viewfinder but still uses the same excellent 23mm F2.0 wide-angle Fujinon lens. Fujifilm's unique split-image technology makes manual focusing easy, and the X-Trans sensor achieves extraordinary image resolution by eliminating the low-pass filter. Moiré artifacts are avoided via the unique color patterning of the X-Trans sensor. The improved viewfinder combines an optical rangefinder with a 2,360K-dot LCD panel for maximum clarity, and the addition of a phase-detection AF system improves focusing in all conditions."
Fujifilm will continue to work towards the development of excellent products and services that address user needs, thereby contributing to the further enhancement of photographic culture.
