Conviva, the global leader in real-time, Quality of Experience (QoE) analytics and preemptive video stream optimization, announced today the deployment of its Insights and Precision Video products for the Global Expansion project of CNTV, the digital arm of China’s National Broadcaster, CCTV.
CNTV is China’s national web-based broadcaster, providing global, multi-language, multi-terminal news to six continents. As the demand for worldwide video streaming expands, viewers from around the world have come to expect the highest quality in online streaming. CNTV now looks to expand their reach and presence globally with both live and VoD sports, entertainment and news content.
Conviva will provide CNTV with preemptive optimization for both live and on demand content, for viewers in 190 countries across multiple CDNs. Precision Video—Conviva’s preemptive adjustment product—detects, locates and resolves any possible failure before it ever impacts the end viewer. The solution increases video resolutions by up to 180% as measured by average bit-rate while simultaneously decreasing buffering events up to 150%. CNTV will also be able to precisely monitor its online video business and stream quality in real-time.
“As China’s national broadcaster, CNTV realizes the need to ensure the best QoE for our viewers in every country or continent where our premium content is accessed,” explains Weijun Song, CTO, CNTV. “The ability to provide quality content worldwide without the distraction of buffering and stuttering is monumental for our brand. In addition, the ability to seamlessly add additional CDNs in different regions to our own streaming servers allows us to rapidly expand our reach while maintaining the highest user experience and containing the cost overrun.”
CNTV also benefits from Conviva’s analytics offering, Insights, which will provide the company with real-time visibility into the individual viewer’s experience. Conviva utilizes its viewer-centric metrics to forecast real time global and local Internet patterns. With this global intelligence, unified multi-CDN and multi-bitrate control algorithms preemptively optimize quality for each individual viewer—delivering the best possible video experience to every viewer in real-time.
“Working with China’s premiere broadcasting network is a big step forward for Conviva in furthering our global presence to ensure viewers everywhere get the online viewing experience they deserve,” said Hui Zhang, CEO, Conviva. “CNTV shares our commitment to consistently delivering quality video and we are honored to partner with them in their efforts to expand their offering.”
