Universal Display Corporation, enabling energy-efficient displays and lighting with its UniversalPHOLED® technology and materials, today announced that it will showcase the company’s latest advances at the 2013 Society for Information Display (SID) International Symposium, Seminar, and Exhibition, being held from May 19-24, 2013 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The company will also exhibit a variety of prototypes and concept devices to demonstrate the benefits of its OLED technologies and high-performance UniversalPHOLED materials. The company will exhibit at Booth #514 from May 21-23 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Universal Display’s development of OLED display, lighting, and next-generation technologies, including flexible OLEDs, has driven key advances and accelerated the path to commercialization. Global display manufacturers have been increasingly introducing OLED devices, including the leading smartphones and other mobile products, and Universal Display’s technology and materials are currently found in most OLED products on the market. Universal Display is also delivering OLED advances to its partners to help accelerate their commercialization of white OLED lighting and flexible OLED products.
While Universal Display’s red phosphorescent OLED emitter materials have been the standard for manufacturers’ use in the OLED market over the past several years, the company recently began selling commercial volumes of green phosphorescent OLED emitter and host materials. As more products are brought to market by OLED device manufacturers, and as innovative, next-generation technologies are introduced, the company expects to expand its presence in the display and lighting markets.
“This year we can truly say that OLED technology has entered the mainstream, with OLED displays in the hands of millions of consumers worldwide,” said Steven V. Abramson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Display. “Our proprietary UniversalPHOLED technology and materials are a driving force in the development and commercialization of beautiful, energy-efficient OLED displays and white OLED lighting. With manufacturers reporting expanded production and plans to invest more in OLED development and production, there are ample opportunities for Universal Display to grow, drive further advances to realize OLED’s vast potential, and build shareholder value.”
This year SID's Symposium will include a variety of technical and business events, including the 9th Annual SID/Cowen 2013 Display Investors' Conference, where Sidney D. Rosenblatt, Universal Display’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, will participate in a session titled “Who’s Got Next - Part I – OLEDs, the Technology of Tomorrow is Here”; and the Monday Technical Seminars, where Dr. Ruiqing Ma, Director, Flexible PHOLED Lighting at Universal Display, will speak on flexible display technologies. During the technical symposium, Dr. Ma and Dr. Michael Weaver will chair sessions highlighting progress in flexible OLED technologies and white OLED lighting, respectively, and Dr. Xin Xu will present a paper, co-authored by Dr. Michael Weaver and Dr. Julie Brown, titled “Phosphorescent Stacked OLEDs for Warm-White Lighting Applications” on Friday, May 24 from 9:00-10:20 a.m. in Ballroom B.
With a comprehensive patent portfolio and technical expertise that covers these and other OLED technologies worldwide, Universal Display licenses its state-of-the-art OLED technologies, sells its proprietary UniversalPHOLED materials, and provides customized technology development and transfer services for its OLED display and lighting customers. Universal Display is transitioning from a New Jersey company that does business in foreign markets to an international company that’s headquartered in Ewing, N.J.
