Larson Electronics’ New Metal Halide Light Tower to Illuminate Large Scale Operations

Larson Electronics has announced the release of a powerful new light tower designed to meet the needs of workers in demanding operations with high output metal halide fixtures and a pneumatically powered mast.

Featuring industrial grade construction and high output in an easy to deploy tower system, the PLM-18-4X1000W Pneumatic Telescoping Light Tower provides operators with an easy to set up lighting system capable of illuminating over 3 acres of work area.

The Larson Electronics PLM-18-4X1000W telescoping pneumatic light tower is a powerful yet easy to deploy lighting system that gives operators in demanding environments the ability to safely illuminate large scale operations quickly and effectively. Featuring a three section mast powered by compressed air and four 1,000 watt metal halide fixtures, this light tower easily illuminates over three acres and can be setup in minutes by a single person. The mast on this unit has a minimum height of eight feet and can be extended to 18 feet to provide maximum coverage of large scale work sites or outdoor events. The mast is pneumatically powered and extends using compressed air provided by an included 1/3rd horsepower compressor, making setup easier, faster, and safer than towers extended using manual winches or hand cranks. While hand cranks can be effective, pneumatic operation reduces the time needed to extend the tower by allowing the operators to simply turn on the compressor rather than have to spend several minutes turning a hand crank. The lamp assembly on this light tower consists of four 1,000 watt metal halide lamps that are rated for wet locations and independently adjustable to provide even and efficient coverage without dark spots or excessive overlap. Each lamp produces 110,000 lumens of intense white light for a combined total of 440,000 lumens between all four lamps. The lamp fixtures feature 19 inch reflector assemblies and are constructed of heavy duty aluminum with heat treated lenses for durability and longevity. Each metal halide lamp is connected to the main power harness via waterproof connectors for added weather resistance, and the main power cables feeds internally through the mast to prevent damage from fraying or wear as the tower is raised and lowered. The entire lamp assembly is attached to the tower via a 24 inch long mounting plate that can be detached from the tower and stowed separately for easier and safer transport. The PLM-18-4X1000W is designed for versatile installation options and includes a 24 inch square by 1/2 inch thick mounting plate that has been predrilled to accept four 3/4 inch bolts. This mounting plate allows operators to secure the tower to trailers or truck for a more mobile system, or can be mounted to stationary platforms for more permanent types of installation. This high power light tower will illuminate over 3 acres effectively and is ideal for applications such as large scale work sites such as open mining operations or events and emergency scenes where powerful yet temporary illumination is needed.

"The PML-18-4X1000W pneumatic light mast assembly is ideal for operators building their own oilfield trailers," said Rob Bresnahan with LarsonElectronics.com. "While we can build entire light plants for customers, we also offer crank up and pneumatic masts for fabricators, rental shops, etc. to build their own light towers, trailers and platforms."
