Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System Awarded Five Additional Patents

Digital Lumens today announced that it has been awarded five additional patents covering a range of technologies embedded in the Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System™, including rules-based distributed control, automated system commissioning, and lighting energy management. The company has now received seven patents for its innovations and has additional applications pending.

"At Digital Lumens, our goal has always been a world where all lights are intelligent -- driving radical energy efficiency and creating a platform for distributed building intelligence," said Brian Chemel, co-author of the patents and CTO of Digital Lumens. "We are pleased that the U.S. Patent Office continues to recognize the innovations we have brought to market with our intelligent fixtures and LightRules™ management platform, and we remain committed to realizing this vision of a world full of smart lights."

Digital Lumens' unique approach to LED lighting systems -- based on intelligent LED fixtures wirelessly networked and centrally managed -- results in dramatically increased energy savings and unprecedented flexibility and control over when and where light is delivered within a facility. The intelligent controller embedded in each fixture combines sensing, wireless networking and distributed control software to maximize energy savings without sacrificing performance, while the centralized LightRules platform enables data-driven optimization, real-time management, and detailed performance reporting at any level of granularity.

The patents are registered as #D671,251, #D676,185, #8,368,321, #8,373,362 and #8,339,069 through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
