IEEE Photonics Conference 2012 in San Francisco will Showcase Breakthroughs in Lightwave and Photonic Technologies

The annual IEEE Photonics Conference (formerly called the IEEE LEOS Annual Meeting) will be held September 23 - 27, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport Hotel, and will include more than 500 technical presentations in the areas of optoelectronics, lasers, and associated lightwave and photonics technologies at the premier autumn gathering for the world's leading photonics scientists and engineers.

This year’s IPC-2012 highlights include:

  • A comprehensive technical program, including more than 500 presentations in lasers, biophotonics, imaging systems, photovoltaics, nanophotonic systems, non-linear & ultrafast optics, planar waveguide technology and much more.
  • A reception on Sunday evening to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the semiconductor laser, including presentations by leading laser pioneers such as James Coleman (U. of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne); Thomas Koch (U. of Arizona); and Don Scifres (SDL Ventures).
  • A Photonics Entrepreneurial Session on Sunday will feature several successful photonics entrepreneurs giving perspectives and insights on commercializing photonics technologies; and will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session.
