SPI Lasers, which designs and manufactures fiber lasers, recently exhibited its products in the Laser World of Photonics event held in China. The latest inclusions to its product line up were the OEM fiber lasers for multi-kW systems, and 500W R4 fiber lasers, both belonging to the redPower brand.
The redEnergyG4 fiber lasers, which range from 10 to 70 W, are an extension of the G3 MOPA lasers, and will be featuring in the product range to be developed in the new facility at Seoul.
The fast expanding customer base for fiber lasers in Asia has led SPI Lasers to set up a new facility in the city of Seoul, in South Korea. This facility in Seoul will not only help to enhance the region’s business opportunities but also offer support and sales services for the company’s fiber lasers.
The new facility in Seoul includes both laboratory and office space. Korea is important for SPI Lasers as it has a growing customer base. Keeping this in mind, Dae-Seung Moon has been recently appointed as Technical Manager, while John Chinn has been taken in as the GM for China and South Korea.
In view of the recent appointments, CEO of SPI Lasers, Mr. David Parker, explained the company’s strategy to develop this new facility in Asia by strengthening the team. He also said that as fiber lasers are gaining importance in the fields of welding, cutting and marking, the company plans to concentrate on applications, marketing and customer services through its new facilities in Korea and China.
