Caliber Imaging & Diagnostics has expanded its FDA-cleared VivaScope portfolio with the introduction of two advanced products, namely VivaScope 1500 and VivaScope 3000, which deliver noninvasive superior-quality images of live cells rapidly at the point of care.
The new VivaScope 1500 delivers reliable and accurate results to skin cancer specialists by capturing the finer details of suspicious lesion. Moreover, the VivaScope 1500 can be used for clinical diagnosis of skin disorders and cancers, disease research, product claims validation, personal care and cosmetic product development, and the detection of skin characteristics, including the assessment of their response to external changes. Integrated tissue stabilization along with automated software routines enables mapping of 8 mm2 of areas of interest.
The VivaScope 3000 is a portable device offering a faster imaging and small probe interface. It is designed for diagnosis and imaging at the point of care, especially for hard-to-reach parts like ears, nose and eyes. With a weight of below 32 ounces, the handheld device enables physicians to quickly analyze skin lesions and detect a therapeutic course of action. It is possible to integrate the capabilities of the VivaScope 3000 as an accessory to existing VivaScope 1500 installations.
Both the devices leverage Caliber Imaging & Diagnostics’ Rapid Cell Imaging and Diagnostics technology, which demonstrates details of cells with a resolution equivalent to typical histology. Modifications in the new VivaScope devices include a multi-touch software interface that allows a physician to search for images easily and rapidly as other touch screen devices. Moreover, the company has rolled out redesigned electronics and optics for enhanced rate of data acquisition and improved image quality. At present, the company is taking in orders of these new products, with delivery slated for 2012 fall.
