TerraLUX LED Solutions Reduce Energy Costs in Colorado Complex

TerraLUX, a well-established company that designs, develops and patents LED-based lighting solutions for general and portable illumination applications, recently declared that TerraLUX’s innovative LED solutions were offered to Village Place Apartments of Boulder, Colorado for retrofitting its lighting. As a result, TerraLUX has enabled the site to enjoy reduced energy consumption and costs.

Village Place Apartments is a 72-unit complex, where the space’s interior corridor is constantly illuminated 24 hours a day, seven days a week similar to most apartment complexes. Under the retrofit project, 56 lights were upgraded with the TerraLUX Linear LED Engine such as outdoor lights, wall sconces, bathroom lights, and overhead dome lights.

The wall sconces in each hallway were composed of two CFL lamps and external ballast that showed 34 W of power consumption. Following retrofit with the TerraLUX Linear LED Engine, each wall sconce consumed only 11.5 W, representing increased energy efficiency up to 22.5 W per light. The retrofit upgrades from TerraLUX have enabled Village Place Apartments to have an estimated annual energy savings of more than $1,200. Furthermore, the TerraLUX LED solutions ensure increased quality of light and enhanced vibrant lighting color throughout the building with 15-year life expectancy.

According to TerraLUX Business Manager, Matthew Sallee, incorporation of 180-degree light source in a 180-degree light fixture resulted in drastic reduction of power utilization in Village Place. Energy consumption was reduced by over 50%, in addition to providing the corridors at Village Place with improvements in color quality, consistency and lifetime.
