Multiple Orders Received by Orbotech for Laser Direct Imaging Systems

Orbotech LDI 150 laser direct imaging (“LDI”) system designed by ORBOTECH  annouced that it has received many orders  from touch screen manufacturers in Asia Pacific which includes Taiwan, Korea and China.

LDI systems of Orbotech are used for bulk production of a sophisticated touch screen application, One Glass Solution (OGS) sensors on routed cover glass, which is thinner, lighter, more economical and consistent when compared to presently used glass-based touch sensors.

Mr. Richard Klapholz, Corporate Vice President at Orbotech stated that a large number of touch screen manufacturers have begun using  Orbotech LDI as it helps to expose  multiple OGS sensors  in a single array.During the manufacture process LDI is required in different stages and several LDI systems are used during production. This is very significant for mass production, enabling customers to overcome challenges in traditional methods and attain high operational efficiency. He also stated that their first-ever innovative technologies designed for sophisticated manufacturing demands of the touch screen industry was received very well by its customers.

Orbotech has more than 20 years of experience and is a leader in the scaling of  algorithms for complicated applications. Some of the system highlights include innovative data processing and image acquisition capabilities that ensure high speed and accurate imaging of a number of sensors at the same time. In this system on a single jig separate glasses can be placed and the system automatically compensates if there are any inaccuracies on the location and thus all the images all of the glasses are displayed in a single array. This jig can also be utilized in subsequent process steps by the existing production equipment. LDI, automated optical inspection (AOI) and automated optical repair (AOR) are some of Orbotech’s field-proven solutions for touch screen production.
