SL Green Realty Selects Seesmart for Major LED Lighting Retrofit

Seesmart Technologies recently declared that New York City’s leading commercial property owner, SL Green Realty has selected the company to install its advanced LED lighting products across 21 commercial office properties. This initiative is part of the US’LED lighting efficiency project.

Installation of over 16,000 Seesmart LED lamps have been included in this lighting retrofit, effectively replacing the traditional halogen, incandescent, and fluorescent lights. With excellent lighting efficiency, these lights minimize energy consumption by over 50%. Integrated with superior lamp life of over 8 years, this lighting retrofit will contribute to additional conservation opportunities. According to SL Green’s forecast, this unique lighting project will lead to combined energy and material/labor savings of up to $750,000 with project payback of only 3 years.

According to Jay Black, Director of Sustainability at SL Green, based on Seesmart LED products, SL Green has initiated this innovative project to drive energy efficiency all through its portfolio. Lighting covers 25% to 30 % of total energy cost of commercial real estate industry. So lighting efficiency is a convincing opportunity. Seesmart’s high quality products feature durability, superior efficiency, in addition to providing excellent customer services.

During evaluation process, Seesmart was reviewed by SL Green against other top industry competitors. Environmental Systems supported this initiative.

SL Green expects the LED lighting retrofit to be completed by August 2012. This program will support potential initiatives like additional LED lighting retrofits at other properties, besides mechanical and renewable energy programs.
