ZyXEL Communications has recently reported that ZyXEL's end-to-end solution-based Active Ethernet fiber technology has been provided to a high speed Internet and hosting services called US Internet, located in Minnetonka, MN to deliver cost-efficient, high-speed broadband services.
With service operations in over 4,000 cities, US Internet intended to transfer to a high speed fiber so as to provide its customers with high-speed broadband Internet service. US Internet started investigating various technologies and vendors for the upgrade, and found Active Ethernet technology to be affordable over Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network fiber technology. Through its collaboration with ZyXEL, US Internet adopted the comprehensive end-to-end solution.
ZyXEL's ES3124F 24-port Ethernet fiber switches were installed within the central offices (COs) of US Internet. These switches were connected via fiber to ZyXEL's FSG1100 active Ethernet gateway in customer premises. The FSG1100 then links with ZyXEL's 802.11n wireless NBG4615 router for maximum speed Internet. Based on the ES3124F's incorporated rate limiting feature, US Internet will use tiered services, thereby providing a choice of 15 Mbps, 30 Mbps and 100 Mbps service options to their customers.
ZyXEL products’ uniform user interface and management features enable easy training to US Internet personnel and also allow easy integration within ‘Muniverse’, which is US Internet's proprietary management system. This system facilitates troubleshooting and remote configuration.
