Cirrus Logic has launched an additional family of digital LED controllers based on digital TruDim dimmer compatibility technology that supports LED retrofit bulbs.
The new CS163X family offers two-channel LED color mixing capabilities and also ensures near 100 % adoption efficiency with globally- installed base of dimmers. By using these dimmers, LED bulb producers can generate clean, warm, natural light quality in addition to promoting cost-efficiency for the two-channel LED retrofit bulbs.
The CS163X family contributes to more enhanced color quality with 30 % better efficiency when compared to that of single-channel white LEDs. In addition to the in-built digital architecture, the traditional components used to control a single LED string enable the CS163X family to control two LED strings that leads to reduced system costs than the existing two-channel solutions.
Furthermore, powerline calibration technology, when integrated to the CS163X enables lighting designers to calibrate bulb characteristics like color temperature and light output. At the end of the production stage, commands will be sent via the AC mains terminals to support the calibration. By using this patent-pending powerline calibration technology, manufacturers can use LEDs with diverse performance characteristics contributing to consistent light output, color temperature, and reduction in LED costs.
Following its entry into the LED market in March 2012, Cirrus Logic’s introduction of the CS161X family will help meet the challenges involved in dimmer compatibility. Other important achievements from the company include TruDim digital intelligence and digital TruDim technology.
