During the 2012 Lightfair International event, Light-Based Technologies (LBT), an innovator of intelligent power and control electronics for SSL, recently declared the launch of its deep dimming, ultra-compatible LED Driver.
The UC LED driver benefits majority of lighting fixture manufacturers across North America and in Japan. Dimmer compatibility is a challenging issue in new construction of SSL applications and also in retrofit due to the extensive variations observed with traditional triac dimmers. The sophisticated firmware algorithms of LBT contribute to achieving superior compatibility throughout the range of triac dimmers.
Less than 1% deep dimming capability is considered to be a major criterion in lighting as the human eye's perception of 1% power output represents 10% light output. LBT's UC LED driver can generate 700 mA or 1000 mA constant current output at 25W. In addition, it also offers the SSL fixtures with unique deep dimming quality and dimmer compatibility. This deep dimming capability is achieved with UC LED driver without the flicker and pops related to other solutions.
The optional drive currents and analogous forward voltages can be optimized for effective lighting applications with the Xicato XSM series of LED light modules.
The UC LED driver is based on LBT's proprietary firmware enabled platform and LB4 LED Controller IC. The firmware approach of LBT ensures more rapid and affordable integration of advanced features and operational capability.
Lightfair International 2012, which is scheduled from May 9 to 11, 2012 in Las Vegas will have LBT demonstrating its UC LED driver and the technology behind the innovation. The company is currently offering evaluation samples.
