University of Utah spinout, Axon Optics stated that more than 90% of people with migraine are affected with photophobia. The FL-41 glasses contain a special coating, which is capable of obstructing light that is responsible for causing migraines.
During the event, a demonstration was hosted on natural migraine relief power of the glasses by optics researcher, Steve Blair. His seven-minute presentation impressed the audience and inspired the jury to present Axon Optics with the ‘Superhero’ title.
Wearing FL-41 glasses, Judge Brady Canfield experienced that the glasses provided a dramatic relief from migraine. Affected by one to two migraines on a weekly basis, Canfield approached Dr. Bradley Katz, who presented him with some FL-41 ‘rose colored glasses’. As result, there was significant reduction in the occurrence of migraines and came down to only once in four months.
University of Utah Moran Eye Center conducted a number of studies on photophobia. The analysis revealed that FL-41 tint is capable of minimizing light sensitivity.
Axon Optics is currently developing light sensitivity-reducing contact lenses and anticipates delivering its next generation migraine lenses during this summer.
