3M Cogent declared that it has received a 10-year contract to deliver biometric identification solutions and high-resolution LiveScan booking systems to the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF).
3M Cogent achieved this contract from HKPF, due to its proven performance, high-potential merit and value proposition. 3M Cogent hardware and software can be employed to capture palm prints and tenprints, in compliance with the HKPF’s ANSI/NIST standard.
As per the contract, HKPF will be provided with FBI-certified 1000 ppi livescans for tenprint and palm capture, 92 ruggedized LiveScan booking stations equipped with adjustable cabinets, and ongoing maintenance and support from 3M Cogent. Around 32 HKPF branches and 3 immigration locations existing in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will deploy the LiveScan stations. With 3M Cogent’s LiveScans, HKPF can electronically present the palm print and fingerprint records to its backend systems such as the Fingerprint Identification System (CAPFIS) and Computer Assisted Palmprint. In 2009, the HKPF CAPFIS was reinforced by 3M Cogent.
One of the Hong Kong Police Force officials stated that in order to upgrade the biometric identification capabilities of HKPF, LiveScan systems need to be implemented. 3M Cogent’s LiveScans will be compatible with other HKPF systems that will lead to revolutionizing the overall arrest processing procedure, better subject booking operations, and improved operational efficiencies and crime-solving potentials.
3M Cogent’s Chief Operating Officer, Matt Pepe said that the company welcomes HKPF’s collaboration with 3M Cogent. Based on 3M’s corporate leadership and investments in R&D, supreme innovative biometric products, systems and solutions will be provided to its customers
