Suprema, a global provider of biometric technologies and identity management solutions, has released a new access control terminal for face recognition. The FaceStation device features adaptive IR illumination technology, a 4.3” touch screen LCD and a videophone interface.
The device is a biometric access control terminal based on IP, which uses facial recognition technology for identifying persons based on their facial features. Variations in a person’s pose and lighting intensity have enabled effective face recognition. Suprema’s face recognition technology addresses these issues with its patented adaptive IR illumination technology and sophisticated algorithm. The device has a rapid matching speed of 1:1,000<1s. It also features a hands-free, contact-less biometric authentication system, which ensures that the technique is hygienic and easy to use.
The FaceStation features a wide 4.3” WVGA touch screen LCD that provides a wide viewing angle. It has a suitably angled front face for maximum coverage. It features a proximity sensor with an auto detection mode. An embedded web server, dual-CPU processing, WiFi, PoE and TCP/IP are other advanced features. The device has interfaces for RS232, USB, 2-channel RS485 and Wiegand. Apart from the multiple in/out ports, it can also be extended further.
Live face detection technology is another important feature of the Suprema FaceStation device that analyzes the eye context from the images that have been extracted. This helps differentiate between imitated face images and real human face objects.
