Finisar Launches WaveShaper Programmable Optical Filters

Two latest WaveShaper Programmable Optical Filters, WaveShaper 1000M/SP and 1000S/SP have been launched by Finisar. The programmable filters, which maintain polarization, offer phase spectra and amplitude controls in the C-band.

These filters can be used in material and medical processes especially for pulsed laser applications and for analyzing superior optical communication systems.

The filters have the capacity to accurately control the timing as well as the shape of a laser pulse for material and medical systems. This allows highly stable and short laser pulses that increase throughput and manufacturing precision.

The signal features can be set up independently using the filters for every polarization, hence optical communication systems having coherent technology and polarization multiplexing benefit from the WaveShaper 1000/SP.

The Director of New Business Ventures in Finisar at Australia, Dr.Simon Poole stated that in association with its customers in the laser and optical communications industry, the filters have been produced. The customers’ requirements for exclusive phase control ability and spectral shaping in the company’s optical filters for polarization has been met.

Finisar provides fibre optic components and subsystems which provides data and visual communications and voice with more speed. They can be used in networking, storage, cable TV, wireless and telecommunications. The company also provides optical technologies for enhancing storage and bandwidth to industries.

In the OFC/NFOEC exhibition at Los Angeles, to be held on March 6-8, the WaveShaper products shall be exhibited in #1703 booth.
