Teledyne DALSA’s new Xcelera-CL VX4 user programmable vision processor is now offered by STEMMER IMAGING. Integrated with Sapera APF, the Xcelera-CL VX4 offers a dynamic vision processor based on FPGA (field-programmable gate array) and integrated graphical FPGA development environment that promotes optimized high-performance machine vision applications.
The Xcelera-CL VX4 is a CameraLink vision processor based on the PCI Express x4 interface and is capable of operating with both Windows XP and Windows 7 of 32/64-bit. The Xcelera-CL VX4 has the ability to capture images from a base, medium or full Camera Link camera, with its comprehensive features that can leverage sophisticated CameraLink pixel or tap configurations.
Backed by an integrated graphical FPGA development environment called Sapera APF, the X64 Xcelera-CL VX4 offers real-time FPGA based hardware processing. This versatile processing platform integrates an Image Processing Unit (IPU), Data Transfer Engine (DTE) and Acquisition Control Unit (ACU) with optimized memory architecture. As a result, a range of complex, real-time image processing techniques such as iterative processing loops can be performed.
Sapera APF integrates a point and click graphical interface with more than 150 imaging operations in image processing libraries based on FPGA, to establish a more simple traditional FPGA development processes for software and hardware engineers. It enables upgrading simple, single pass or complex iterative algorithms, and facilitates design validation to promote time-efficiency. Using the Sapera Software Development Kit, the user functions can be determined as the Sapera APF is capable of designing the essential infrastructure. Users can therefore construct, debug, and install the FPGA code with easy and quick upgrades.
