Elemental LED Sponsors On the Green Road Project

A LED lighting company in San Francisco Bay area, Elemental LED has declared that it is sponsoring a project, On the Green Road undertaken by environmentalists, Brenda Daugherty and Cece Reinhardt who performed retrofitting of a 2003 Airstream to help it function in a sustainable manner off the grid.

The Green RV with Color Changing LED Lights a Glow

The Airstream was fitted with LED lightings both inside and outside that helped the Airstream to consume less energy.

The environmentalists are planning to travel round the US in the Airstream, which is pulled by a dodge ram that uses bio-fuel. They have been traveling for four months now and are presently conducting open houses, taking part in conventions and teaching the public on sustainable living. They have covered Ashland OR, Santa Cruz, CA, Austin TX and Tucson AZ.

An open house will be conducted outside the headquarters of Elemental LED on March 3, 2012 in Emeryville, CA.

On the Green Road

The LED lights fitted on the green RV operate in combination with two solar panels fitted on the Airstream roof, and a battery with a monitor to enable the environmentalists to determine their energy usage.

Reinhardt stated that visitors admire the light power and that the quality is natural and soft. He added that the lighting has eliminated myths that LEDs are not appealing and are aggressive. Visitors expressed their enthusiasm in understanding alternatives to incandescent lighting and CFLs.

The RV interior has dimmable LED strip lights as well as diffusers in the dinette, kitchen, reading and bathroom areas. Reinhardt commented that they loved using the light strips as the mood lighting was excellent and did not cause glare. About 12 V LED puck lights offer general area lighting all through the RV interior.

The environmentalists used green components some of which are earth plaster ceilings and walls by American Clay, natural linoleum flooring and cork planks from Vida, composting toilet by Nature’s Head and Madagascar Ebony Echo Wood veneer cabinets by Hardwoods. Their 2006 Dodge Ram uses waste vegetable oil as fuel.
