Novel Handheld Fluorescence Microscope for Laboratory Applications

Microscope.com and BigC.com have partnered to debut the Dino-Lite AM4113T-GFBW, the latest member of the Dino-Lite series. The AM4113T-GFBW is a portable fluorescence microscope. Fluorescence takes place when light having one wavelength is re-emitted at a different wavelength by matter.

The AM4113T-GFBW features seven blue LEDs and one white LED for excitation and a 510 nm emission filter that helps the microscope to study the activities of green fluorescence proteins in live cells and organisms such as Zebrafish and its eggs. These features make the microscope suitable for bio-engineering researchers and geneticists.

The second-generation housing of the digital microscope comprises a machined magnification dial whose movement facilitates focusing and has a convenient scroll lock. The position of the thumb-wheel can be secured by sliding the locking tab subsequent to the setting of the required magnification. This maintains the focus of the image, while saving considerable time in repetitive studies.

The resolution of AM4113T-GFBW is 1280 x 1024. It also features measurement capabilities, Microtouch trigger and a 1.3 MP camera. The use of both blue and white fluorescing illumination makes it an ideal and economical device for use in laboratories, including forensics and biomedical research.

The highly versatile fluorescence microscope also takes time-lapse and real-time video, which is highly useful for educational instruction and scientific research.
