America’s NEC Display Solutions, a supplier of commercial projectors and LCD display solutions has declared that the company has upgraded its Series 2 digital cinema projector line in order to be compatible with the high frame rates to be introduced in the digital cinema industry.
NEC’s software development within its Series 2 line includes the NC2000C, NC3200S, and NC1200C, with the introduction of its Release Package version 3.3. This makes the projectors to be compatible with the HFR format with IMB input, allowing 60 fps in two- and three-dimensional modes, with 48 fps in Double Flash 3D. This accelerates the movement, facilitating improved images and fine pictures. The HFR technology support will be made feasible for the NC3240S 4K projector by 2012 spring.
Hollywood directors Peter Jackson and James Cameron are already supporting the HFR format, which will be introduced by the end of 2012. Upcoming films like Avatar sequel and The Hobbit and are likely to be produced in HFR, in order to improve the theatre experience.
