AltaSens Chooses Berkeley Design Automation’s AFS Platform for HD CMOS Image Sensors

High-performance CMOS image sensor supplier, AltaSens has chosen Berkeley Design Automation’s Analog FastSPICE (AFS) platform, the quickest nanometer circuit verification platform of the world, for performing device noise analysis, block-level characterization and full-circuit post-layout verification of its wide-dynamic-range, high-performance and high-definition (HD) CMOS image sensors.

The AFS platform is used for the verification of custom digital, mixed-signal, RF and analog circuits. It offers foundry-verified nanometer SPICE accuracy, which is 5x-10x quicker when compared to other simulators on an individual core and has an enhanced performance of 2x-4x with multithreading.

The AFS Platform integrates the one-of-its-kind silicon-accurate device noise analysis for circuit characterization and provides near-linear performance that increases with the count of cores. It provides mixed- analog-digital co-simulation and greater than 10M element capacity, the quickest near-SPICE-accurate simulation of the industry with Verilog simulators for larger circuits. Existing licenses comprise AFS Nano SPICE, AFS Co-Simulation, AFS RF Analysis, AFS Transient Noise Analysis and AFS circuit simulation.

AltaSens’ Vice President of Engineering, Manjunath Bhat commented that using the AFS Platform, the company can now perform post-layout verification with nanometer SPICE accuracy for its wide-dynamic-range, high-performance HD CMOS image sensors. While using the AFS single core, the company experienced a performance comparable to that of its current parallel simulator operating on eight cores.

The President and Chief Executive Officer at Berkeley Design Automation, Ravi Subramanian stated that AltaSens’ selection is a testament to consider the company as an ideal partner to companies that produce high-performance CMOS image sensors for numerous applications.
