Transition Networks Launches Power Over Ethernet Plus Compliant Devices

Transition Networks, a fully-owned subsidiary of Communications Systems and provider of industrial fiber networking technology has launched three new industrial-hardened devices, developed to expand the advantages of Power Over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) to the devices increasingly available at the edge of the network in both external and industrial environments.

The new switches provide full Gb Ethernet ports with the PoE + feature compliant with IEEE 802.3at standards to connect and control network devices such as WAPs and IP cameras. The SISTP1010-380-LRT has been particularly developed to be used on public transportation systems. The Gb speed and PoE + ports enables these switches to drive the latest IEEE 802.11n generation of WAPs, access control units, and security cameras.

This product can be driven directly from the vehicle's 12/24 VDC systems and has been constructed with physically distributed network-powered services and devices. Its pair of Gb-speed fiber SFP ports provides a mixture of multimode (MM) and single-mode (SM) fiber that has been designed to reduce the primary capital investment and installation costs. The 4Gb speed SFP ports provide utmost flexibility in multiple constructions of fiber-supported network architectures. The new product provides full Gb speed on eight copper ports, which in combination with PoE+ are ideal for maintaining wireless access points with MIMO antenna variations. The switches are available in an extended operating temperature range from -40°C to +70°C.
