TE Connectivity has introduced a Compact CWDM (CCWDM) module for service providers who needs expansion in the capacity of their fiber facilities without deploying additional fiber cables. The Compact CWDM is a novel invention added to the fiber optic splice closure (FOSC) product portfolio of TE connectivity.
The Compact CWDM module will separate four or eight wavelengths from one fiber and can be deployed in the factory site. The Compact CWDM module is provided with a distinct carrier, which is snapped into FOSC closure trays of TE to ensure firm placement of the module.
The Compact CWDM module exists in different forms such as with or without upgrade and 1310nm ports, 4- or 8- wavelength versions to multiplex or de-multiplex wavelength versions. The module generates a versatile large cable plant and supports the customers commercially with high speed data, video services and digital phone. The TE’s module features less optical loss and is well suited with many TE’s FOSC closures. One FOSC A, B or C closure tray can be equipped with a maximum of two compact CWDM modules and a FOSC D closure tray can be equipped with a minimum of two Compact CWDM modules. The Compact CWDM module without the carrier can be mounted in a splicing tray.
Jaxon Lang, vice president of Telecom Networks Americas at TE connectivity, stated that the FOSC closure family of products is expanded in the market by introduction of the Compact CWDM module. Lang said that the carrier tray and compact size of the CCWDM module makes it outstanding and ensures easy installation of the module in a wide range of field situations.
