Coherent will exhibit the METABEAM 1000 at FABTECH 2011,a machining tool based on laser technology, capable of economical incision of sheet metal like mild and stainless steel, aluminum and brass.
This tool employs a 1000W CO2 laser, the Company’s Diamond E 1000, which is a unique sealed- kilowatt CO2 laser with increased power more than 2500W, M2 below 1.2 and does not need maintenance for its entire life. Compared to previous systems, this tool has lower procurement and operational costs, along with long wavelength infrared CO2 laser output to allow cutting series of metals as well as inorganic materials like wood and plastic.
This complete machine tool system includes a capacitive height sensor for equal spacing between the metal surface and also has a standard auto focus for a stable incision. The system has been provided with two high pressure gas provisions to quickly switch between assist gases for cutting a range of materials with very less setup time. Several tools like pallet shuttles are used in the production environment for increased productivity. This tool also provides cost-efficient manufacture of a series of metals and materials for metal service centers, job and sheet metal fabrication shops, for domestic applications, white goods (appliances), automobiles, aerospace and contract manufacturing.
Started in 1966, Coherent is a Russell 2000 Index company and a global pioneer in offering laser-based solutions to the commercial and scientific research markets.
