Canon has launched the Cinema EOS System and marked its entry into the motion picture production industry.
Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera, which the company had launched earlier, has been used for producing television programs and Hollywood motion pictures. Canon’s latest Cinema EOS System is a professional digital cinematography system that covers digital SLR camera, digital video camcorder and lens product categories. It is compatible with the company’s wide array of EF lenses.
Canon has launched seven new 4K EF Cinema Lenses for EOS SLR cameras. They are compatible with Super 35 mm-equivalent sensors and provide an optical performance of 4096 x 2160 pixels. Three of the new lenses are single-focal-length lenses designed for EF mounts and are compatible with cameras having 35 mm full-frame sensors. The other four are zoom lenses that cover a range from 14.5 to 300 mm. Two of these are for PL lens mounts, while the other two are for EF.
Canon has also introduced the EOS C300/C300 PL digital video camcorder featuring interchangeable-lens in two lens mount models. It features a 8.29 MP CMOS sensor that is equivalent to Super 35 mm. The EOS C300 PL can be used with standard PL lenses, while the EOS C300 with EF lens mount is compatible with the company’s interchangeable EF lens lineup.
Canon is also developing a new digital SLR camera featuring a full-frame 35 mm CMOS sensor that supports 4K video with motion-JPEG compression at 24P frame rate. This new camera will facilitate excellent image quality for creating expressive images.
