The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) has selected the TekDek luminaire and SmartSense Control from Kenall Lighting in its Progress Report for the year 2011.
The TekDek is an LED luminaire which has been particularly designed for parking lots and is compatible with the SmartSense control system that has the capability to differentiate between day and night by sensing motion and thus leads to a cost effective and energy saving system.
A team of lighting engineers, designers and manufacturers from IES have chosen the products since they give high quality of illumination with greater extent of vertical illumination, reduced glare and greater uplight than other LED products that are currently available in the market. According to the Department of Energy, the TekDek lighting system is the most efficient LED lighting for parking lots with a power of 100 lm/w. Apart from being chosen for its compatibility with the TekDek and providing effective sensing controls, the SmartSense has also been recognised for its L70 detection system, which can determine when the LED can no longer be used.
For a product to be recognised, it goes through a series of rigorous judging procedures during which the product or system is evaluated for its uniqueness, contribution to the lighting industry and innovativeness. Besides the inclusion of these products in the Progress Report for 2011, they will also be aggressively promoted by the IES at the IESNA Annual Conference, which will be held in Austin, Texas.
