Optcore Introduces 10GBase-ER-SFP and Optical Transreceiver

Optcore Technology has introduced the OC-192/STM-64 SONET/SDH transport and 10GBase-ER-SFP and optical transreceiver.

The 10GBase-ER-SFP and transreceiver which has been made for 10G Ethernet consists of PIN and TEC photodetector for 40kms of a single mode of fibre. It is also compliant with 802.3ae 10GBase-ER/EW electrical interface and has been made according to the specifications of SFF-8431 for 10Gigabit SFP pluggable module having a small form factor. The 10GBase-ER-SFP and transreceiver uses 1550nm of cooled externally modulated laser (EML) transmitter and has an outer housing made from metal. As a result of this, the transreceiver consumes power of less than 1.5W and at the same time gives good EMI performance. Due to this the total power consumption of the communication system also comes down. Other features of the transreceiver include a data rate of 9.953Gbps to 10.3125Gbps, +3.3V power supply and SFP + duplex LC connector.

The transreceiver can operate at a temperature of up to 70°C and comes with a two wire interface required for the SFF 8472 digital diagnostic monitoring interface. The 10GBase-ER-SFP+Transreceiver is expected to meet the demands of switch and router original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) who require transmission of up to a distance of 40kms with the help of SFP+form factor tranreceivers. By the end of the year 2011 the company also plans to introduce 10Gb/s DWDM SFP+ Transreceiver, 10Gbs/BIDI SFP Transreceiver, 10Gbs/CWDM SFP+ Tranreceiver and the 10Gbs/ SFP+ZR Transreceiver
