Lighting Science Group's high-efficiency and superior performance LED lighting solutions will be illuminating the energy-saving solar homes of six out of the twenty academic teams contesting in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011. Stevens Institute of Technology, Parsons.
The New School for Design, Old Dominion University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Hampton University, The Southern California Institute of Architecture, Middlebury College, California Institute of Technology, and Florida International University have been involved for approximately two years, building residences that provide customer attraction, affordability and superiority in design with improved efficiency, and an optimal energy production, with the realization that LED lighting products of Lighting Science Group will provide their houses with a winning edge in the 10 Department of Energy sponsored contests that will be held in Washington, D.C. between September 23 and October 2, 2011.
The light (lumen) LED output is excellent when compared the other existing LED products. The bulbs possess higher energy-saving capabilities with “instant on” characteristics, include no mercury, and can be fully recycled, providing improved quality of light.
At present the Solar Decathlon, the Times Square Ball, International Space Station, and several other installations in important cities throughout the globe, including houses are using LED solutions of Lighting Science Group that are improving energy independence, thereby saving businesses, customers, and government, a considerable amount of money and energy.
