The West Lafayette Community School Corporation in an eco-friendly endeavour has upgraded its lighting to enhance lighting-effectiveness and decrease the functional costs. The huge project was accomplished by Enreco USA, an energy services company, aimed at providing energy-saving solutions via solar projects, lighting applications, and other novel technologies.
Larry Wood, Director of Facilities, West Lafayette, said when he thought of enhancing the lighting of the gymnasium, he was unsure about how to substantiate the initial funding of the project. On meeting the team from Enreco USA, Wood understood that the cost benefits will be instantaneous and the fittings can be installed in time so as to carry on with the tight summer schedule of the schools. Wood added that he was delighted that the team from Enreco USA completed the installation in time. He pointed out that he was happy that he granted the project to Enreco USA and appreciated the company’s capability to manage the project with ease by facilitating every aspect of the upgrade of lighting fixtures right from performing an initial audit of the place to ascertaining the estimated cost savings to examining utility incentives and from clearance of old fittings to the installation of novel lightings.
Enreco USA replaced the fluorescent lighting with LED lighting provided by West End Lighting, since West Lafayette was focussing on reducing the overall maintenance and operating costs apart from improving the exact lighting distribution in the gymnasium. Though the initial costs are slightly higher, replacing the fluorescent lights with the LED lighting is more energy effective considering the long lasting cost benefits.
