BlueStar Energy Develops Energy-Efficient LED Lighting for Franklin Park Public Library

Blue Star Energy Solutions has designed an energy-efficient lighting solution for a public library in the village of Franklin Park, in a bid to decrease energy usage in the library. BlueStar Energy has assisted the library in reducing its energy usage by 56% with the help of this LED technology.

The aim of the project was to save energy costs, to improve the lighting standards in the library, thereby enhancing the poor quality lighting, decreasing the power consumption, and implementing the "Green" technology. BlueStar Energy teamed up with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to obtain approximately $19,000 in incentives for energy efficiency for the project by illustrating the expected savings with the implementation of LED technology.

After thoroughly inspecting the library, Blue Star Energy proposed a creative LED lighting control solution. Apart from providing improved lighting, the novel LED lighting system utilises daylight harvesting technology to the maximum, and provides occupancy sensors and complete dimmable controls.

According to Stan Monkus, Business Manager, Franklin Park Public Library, Blue Star had to design an energy solution to meet the enhanced lighting requirements of the library. He added that a detailed engineering report provided by Blue Star illustrated the savings obtained with the usage of LED technology, which emphasized Blue Star’s commitment to fulfil the demanding needs of the library.
