Zhone Technologies, aFTTx network access solution provider, declared that Venus Telephone (Venus), a 100-year-old telephone network provider has been added to its customer base.
At present, Venus provides triple-play services to nearly 1,400 customers, and will engage Zhone’s MXK, as its principal gigabit passive optical network (GPON) access platform for building its novel fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network.
Zhone’s MXK solution will allow Venus to provide VoIP and IP video services and also cost-effective and consistent high-speed Internet access from September 2011, to the local customers and businesses in a radius of 54 sq.mi.
Zhone has the gained wide experience in handling complex multi-service access to develop an all-inclusive FTTx solution offering. Venus offers Triple Play services such as IP video and MXK has proved its capability to offer these services affordably through point-to-point active ethernet networks or passive optical network (PON), thereby ensuring that MXK is a perfect solution for the project. One more reason for Venus to choose Zhone’s multiservice access network (MSAN), MXK, is to provide higher impact on consumers and to support symmetrical high bitrate digital subscriber line Ethernet in the first mile (SHDSL-EFM) and T1s for commercial applications.
Zhone has stationed more than 2,000 of its carrier-grade, redundant, all-IP MXK platforms spanning more than 150 service providers in more than 40 countries around the globe.
