The Microscopy Conference, 2011, is to be held in Kiel, between Aug 28 and Sep 2, which focuses on the recent advancements of microscopy in the field of life sciences and material science.
International experts will discuss about structure research based on electron microscopy and other technologies. The venues Christian-Albrechts-UniversitatZu Kiel, CAU and Scheleswig-Holstein are well known for international research and several symposiums, lectures, workshops and an industrial exhibition comprising more than 50 companies will be conducted as part of the Conference.
The opening of the Microscopy Conference 2011 will be done by Professor Wolfgang Jager, Chairman of the Microscopy Conference, followed by welcome addresses rendered by Professor Gerhard Fouquet, Organizer and President of the University, Dr Cordelia Andreben, Secretary of State, Cathy Kietzer, the President of Kiel City Council and the President of DGE, Professor Reinland Rachel from the German Society for Electron Microscopy. An inaugural lecture on the topic for whether there is a need for further instrumental developments is to be delivered by the International Award-winning physicist and entrepreneur, and winner of the Wolf award for his work on electron physics, Professor Maximilian Haider, Heidelberg. The Ernst-Ruska award is to be presented to a physicist from Antwerp, Belgium Dr Johan Verbeeck, and a cell biologist from Boulder, Colorado, USA, Professor Mastronarde at the opening ceremony of Microscopy Conference 2011.
