Infonetics Research, a market research and consulting firm, has launched its second quarter 2011 vendor market share report on Optical Network Hardware.
According to Andrew Schmitt, Directing analyst for Optical at Infonetics, it has been expected that there would be a single-digit market growth for this year and that the total spending would increase by 6.5% for the current year. In the EMEA region, the optical market has shown growth mainly due to currency effects and because of Huawei and ZTE.
The report also reveals that the optical equipment along with WDM optical network equipment showed an increase, while the ROADM equipment spending reached new heights in the second quarter of 2011 with a sequential rise of 9%. The North American region showed good performances by Tellabs and Fujitsu, while Japan showed better results when compared to the past year.
The Optical Network Hardware report which is released on a quarterly basis by Infonetics, gives both the regional and the global vendor market share forecasts along with analysis and market sizes. The report also keeps track of companies such as Infinera, BTI, Cisco, Adtran, ECI, Tyco to name a few. Equipments such as WDM, SONET/SDH, along with packet-optical transport systems are also looked at along with number of ports and the revenue generated by each port with regard to speed.
