Vu1, a New York City-based developer and manufacturer of environmentally friendly and energy efficient lighting solutions, has reported that its A-type Electron Stimulated Luminescence (ESL) light bulb has obtained final approval for UL Certification.
ESL technology provides light quality equivalent to that of an incandescent bulb, and consumes 70% lesser energy. The A19 ESL light bulb is a common bulb used the world over. The A60 is the European equivalent of this light bulb.
Light bulbs manufactured by Vu1 have a life of 11,000 h. They are energy efficient and are also mercury-free. Both of Vu1's light bulbs, A19 and R30, are designed to provide natural light quality. They utilize accelerated electrons for stimulating phosphor for creation of light. The new light bulb developed by Vu1 would the first bulb of its type that is non-toxic, affordable and energy efficient and has features not found in other products.
The CEO of Vu1, Dr. Scott Blackstone, stated that the final approval for UL Certification for two of its products validated the company’s ESL lighting technology. It was a significant milestone achievement, he added. He also said that that his goal was to finalize the talks with electrical wholesale and retail distributors in the coming weeks.The company would be also build up inventory levels of its A-type bulb before launch of the product.
