Precision Series Combines Latest in Color Performance, Technology and Design

Drawing on its 20-year heritage and expertise in the visual display industry, ViewSonic(R) Corp. announced its entrance into the "luxury home theater lifestyle" category with the first offering in its Precision Series, the Pro8100 home theater projector. The Precision Series of displays will combine the latest in color performance, technology and design to provide superb overall image quality with both standard and high definition sources, and be developed exclusively for the custom installation and specialty retail channels.

"With our recent 46 percent growth year-over-year in the projector market(1), it was a natural fit for us to expand our projector expertise to include the Pro8100 1080p home theater," said Jeff Volpe, vice president of marketing, ViewSonic Americas. "This projector delivers high-end performance meeting the expectations of high-end consumers and aligns our display leadership with the strengthening custom installer channel."

The Pro8100 uses ViewSonic's proprietary Precision Color System (PCS), an image enhancement technology that renders natural colors with extensive tuning capabilities. The PCS chipset is the final gatekeeper to ensure accurate color reproduction by fine-tuning and correcting any errors of the front-end scalar. PCS features include 3D color management, auto contrast, H-Edge enhancement, 33 levels of gamma correction and a daylight mode function to automatically adjust the image based on the lighting environment. In addition, the Pro8100 features a high performance Silicon Optix Reon processor with HQV(TM) that provides leading edge video processing to help eliminate feathering artifacts and "jaggies" and deliver stunning video.

Creating a true home theater experience, the Pro8100 offers full HD 1080p resolution, 13,000:1 contrast ratio (typ), 1000 lumens of brightness, auto iris and full HD optics. The projector provides excellent connectivity including all standard connections as well as two HDMI 1.3 inputs with HDCP that furthers the projector's functionality and allows connection to a number of devices such as game consoles, HD broadcast receivers, Blu-Ray(TM) disc and HD-DVD players.

Available now for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $4,995, the Pro8100 home theater projector comes standard in black, but customers have the option of customizing the projector to their decor with optional white, silver or burgundy skins. The Pro8100 will be sold only through authorized ViewSonic custom installers and specialty retailers. The Pro8100 is backed by ViewSonic's superior customer support program that includes a three-year limited product warranty, 24/7 technical support and one year of Express Exchange(R) service at no additional charge. ViewSonic also provides a one- year or 1000 hours warranty on the lamp.
