Atlanta-based manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting solutions, Acuity Brands has been chosen by the US Department of Energy to receive the Lighting Facts Special Recognition for 2011. Acuity Brands is one of the nine companies chosen for the special honor.
A voluntary participation program from the Department of Energy, Lighting Facts incorporates LED products for normal lighting purposes from producers committed to evaluating their products and reporting results of performance, as per industry norms. The program lays emphasis on consumer education with the aim of making suitable comparison and choosing solid state lighting products.
Acuity Brands lends support to the program in the industrial, commercial, institutional and residential markets. It includes display of the Lighting Facts label on several solid state lighting specification sheets and products along with LM-79 testing of certain applicable products.
The Vice President of Acuity Brands, David Zizzi stated that the Lighting Facts program supplies the framework required to display the LED luminaire performance in a format that is consumer-friendly. Zizzi added that the framework assures customers of the dedication that Acuity Brands has towards performance and quality.
