LG Innotek has declared that deploying and operating of LED lights for duration of one year for all its lighting sources present at the Paiju LED facility is as beneficial as the planting a total of 63,000 pine trees.
The Paju LED plant has installed LEDs for over 10,000 lights that include lights at welfare facilities, streets, and production lines. This plant has started its operations as an environment-friendly facility in July 2010.
LG Innotek’s Paju LED plant includes LED factory structures, dormitories, and several infrastructure facilities such as welfare and administration buildings. The dormitories cover 182,000 sq m which equals the size of 26 football grounds.
The Paju LED plant comprises several environment-friendly and increased efficiency LED lighting solutions, developed in-house, such as ModulA and ReflectA. ModulA is a plane panel lighting solution, whereas ReflectA is an indirect reflecting-kind lighting solution.
Over the past one year, LG Innotek’s Paju Plant has consumed only 20% of energy that conventional lighting such as florescent lights would have used, thereby saving 753,000 kW of electricity, by utilizing LED lighting. This amount of energy-consumption would release 317 tons of carbon dioxide. If a single pine tree is assumed to absorb 5 kg of carbon dioxide in one year, then the effect of the saved electricity is equivalent to the effect caused by planting more than 63,000 pine trees. LED lightings do not include unsafe substances for example, mercury and treatment gas. Their lifespan is five times more than florescent lighting, thereby reducing the creation of waste.
